The Watchers by Dean Koontz

WARNING, there are spoilers in this review, if you have not read the book and do not want it to be spoiled for you, i suggest you stop reading now. This week i have finished reading Watchers by Dean Koontz, i quite enjoyed this book, the way that the Outsider (the antagonist) was described as just a bad feeling at the start of the book sent shivers up my spine. However, for me anyway, when the Outsider started to attack people, and the readers were told vaguely how it looked, that took away some of the suspense for me. Being told it was part ape and having it described, it just didn't seem scary anymore. The character in this book that i loved the most was quite easily Einstein, because he is the sort of thing that everyone wonders about, "What if dogs could talk?" His character was so completely lovable that when he "died", i was quite sad. I thought the character of Vince was quite an unnecessary story line as his only function was to make sure that Travis and Nora had no one to ask about the dog. He was easily defeated and just didn't really do anything of importance. Overall, this book was quite good and i would rate it 7/10.
