Imposters by Scott Westerfeld

<SPOILERS> I read a bit of this series about a year ago, i thought the premise of a society where looks are everything was fascinating but i found i got bored quite quickly and when the book was finished i put it back and didn't think anything of the series until i picked this book up. I started reading without knowing that it was a later instalment in the series and i soon discovered i was really enjoying it. Then i realised that it was part of the series. This book had an incredible premise, that took the idea of a body double and ran with it. When the kings wife died, he salvaged her eggs and used incubator-like technology so that he would have twins. In the past his son had been killed by an assassin with a problem with the king, and it wasn't going to happen again. The eldest twin, Rafi, grew up in the light, taught languages and fashion and how to conduct herself properly as a princess . Frey, the youngest twin, grew up in the shadows, being taught to give her life for Rafi if needed, taught many ways of self defence, only seeing the outside world at dangerous public events where she replaced Rafi to make sure she was safe. i'm considering going back and re-reading the earlier entries in the series. I give this book a 9.8 out of 10.
