Hi again, i read this book pretty fast because i really enjoyed it. I had a feeling i would love this book because one, it's written by Derek Landy who is my favourite author, and two, it was recommended to me by a friend with very similar interests in reading. As always there are spoilers contained in this review so if you don't want to read those, i suggest you stop reading now.
Now as i said, Derek Landy is my favourite author so i was expecting to love this book and i was in no way disappointed. This book was quite violent but it was incredibly well written and i loved every page. It has been a long time since i have come across a book that i read in such a short amount of time because i just could not put it down. One thing that i did miss in this book was the, sarcastic, dry, humour that i am used to in all of the Skulduggery Pleasant books. This is just because i love a little bit of humour in my books and i understand that different types of books require different types of humour. but that is just something that i personally would have liked. Another thing that i didn't really like was the reveal of Edgar being evil. As a character, he was only featured for a small part of the book at the beginning, and then again at the end where he is revealed to be evil and trying to sacrifice Amber to the Shining Demon. I just thought that he was only featured for a little bit and i would have liked a little more character development before his reveal because he was kind of brought in to help, brought out, and then brought in again for no other reason than to be evil. All that said though, i enjoyed this book immensely and can't wait to read the rest in the series . I rate this book an 8 out of 10. The next book that i'll be reading and reviewing is Creature of the Night by Kate Thompson.
